Excursion to Kerkyra(Corfu) island

Corfu is a world renowned destination for holidaymakers and aviation enthusiasts alike. The Hellenic Aviation Enthusiasts Society “Air-born” visited Corfu during early August and we all left with the best impressions, not just for the aviation action and setting, but also for the warm welcome we received from the airport community there.

And although the infinite photographic possibilities and angles provide for spectacular pictures we were not limited to just that. We visited the control tower, we met the people who are responsible for the everyday operation of the airport and we experienced a group flight on a sea plane.

The warm welcome we received from the airport authorities can only be interpreted as the recognition of our efforts for recording aviation history in our country but also a clear manifestation of the professionalism of the people working at LGKR.

Our sincerest thanks go out to Mr. Zahos the Airport Authority Chief and his staff and to the air traffic controllers and their supervisor Mr. Alexis, together with our best wishes for succeeding in their work. Also, a big “thank you” goes out for our Corfu members for their help in organizing this excursion, their hospitality and for keeping us good company during our stay there.
